We rarely get to review inexpensive convertibles that can be tweaked as much as the Dell Inspiron 5410, although the review sample already comes with a good configuration out of the box. However, the display is the main compromise.

The Inspiron scores points with a powerful Ryzen 5 APU (Barcelo), 16 GB of RAM, and very good battery life. Positive: USB-C Power Delivery is supported. Dell has chosen a 14-inch display in the more work-friendly 16:10 format here (1,920x1,200 pixels).

The Dell Inspiron 14 (5441) with Snapdragon X Plus processor is one of the more budget offerings in this line. The version I tested is just $650 at the time of this writing. You can move up to the 10-core version of this laptop for $800. That increases your hard drive to 1TB, but for the money, I'd stick with the 8-core version. And I do believe this workhorse machine is with the price tag. It kept up with my multi-tasking, AI-using, and picture editing without missing a beat. I was also able to seamlessly stream videos and music and wasn't disappointed in the quality of either. So, yeah, this one is a buy for anyone looking for a basic laptop to get things done.

You can do a lot worse than the Dell Inspiron 14. It’s a classy, if bland, looking machine that’s got plenty to offer in terms of connectivity and easy utility. But it’s just not quite all it could have been. Dell shifted over to a low-tier Snapdragon X Plus chip for this model, and the performance left plenty to be desired. As long as emulation is required, you’ll end up better off with even some of Intel’s less-loved CPUs, and graphics lags behind thoroughly. Factor in a very disappointing display and the fact that even the low-power processor couldn’t set the Dell Inspiron 14 apart from the competition in battery life, and you’ve got a laptop that has no easy time justifying itself over others.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.
In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.
For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.
AMD Vega 7: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 7 CUs (= 448 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 1,600 MHz.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 80 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 SoC features. Compared to the faster 3.8 TFLOPS and 4.6 TFLOPS X1-85 iGPUs, this one does not just run at lower clock speeds but also has fewer unified shaders at its disposal, with 768 being the most likely number. The underlying architecture is reportedly not much different from what was used in the Adreno 730. As for its gaming performance, it's only just sufficient for pre-2020 games at resolutions such as HD 720p on low graphics settings.

Intel Tiger Lake:
i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.
AMD Cezanne (Zen 3, Ryzen 5000):
R5 5625U: Mobile six core APU with Zen 3 cores clocked at 2.3 to 4.3 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 7 CUs clocked at up to 1800 MHz.
Intel Alder Lake-M:
i5-1235U: On Alder-Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 0.9 to 4.4 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.
Intel Raptor Lake-U:
i5-1335U: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 0.9 to 4.6 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X:
SD X Plus X1P-42-100: A relatively affordable ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The X Plus 8-core chip features 8 Oryon CPU cores running at up to 3.4 GHz, along with the 1.7 TFLOPS X1-45 Adreno iGPU and the 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. The super-fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller known to us from other Snapdragon X chips, USB 4.0 support, TB 4 support and PCIe 4 support are all onboard as well.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

77.48%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
