Value-oriented. The new Dell G series caters to gamers on tighter budgets who may find the Alienware series to be out of reach. While core performance remains intact, the cut corners for this inexpensive offering add up quickly.

The Dell G3 15 is a lot better than you might give a sub £1000 gaming laptop credit for. If you’re after something which can handle some of the best PC games in recent years at a fair old clip and you’re not bothered about pushing the settings all the way up to max, then this is a great choice. Issues with the screen mean that it’s not great for watching media, or playing games where there’s a lot of darkness and shadows on the screen. But if you’re a thrifty gamer and you can live with those limitations, then the Dell G3 15 is an absolute bargain.

This is so nearly an ideal all-purpose laptop that even enables easy upgrades, but the poor screen would make us think twice.

Model: The Dell G3 series laptops have another new member - the light and stylish G3 3579. The gaming laptops in the G3 line usually weigh less and look better than those from Dell's G5 and G7 lines. This time, the newest member also boasts a better cooling system than its predecessors. This version of G3 3579 comes with a Full HD IPS 15.6" screen display, and it runs on an i5-8300H Coffee Lake CPU, 4 GB of RAM (there is also an 8 GB RAM variant), a GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB RAM graphics card, and a 1 TB HDD of internal storage. The selling points of the latest G3 model seems to be its chic aesthetic and its slimmer built. It measures at 380 mm x 258 mm, and with 22.7 mm height and 2.5 kg weight, it is one of the thinnest gaming laptops in the market. This laptop is very suitable for those who are searching for a gaming laptop with a more professional touch as compared to the more traditional and bulky gaming laptops. The fact that the G3 model has similar hardware specifications as its big brothers, the G5 and G7, is a definite bonus. The G3 3579 performs quite well with the i5-8300H processor and the GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. The computing processes are also suitably complemented by the adequate 4 GB of DDR4 RAM. It is by no means a very powerful gaming laptop, but it should run most AAA games in at least medium settings just fine. Unfortunately, the screen suffers from poor color accuracy and low brightness.
Now, let's move on to the build quality of the Dell G3 3579. While the laptop looks pretty modern and should suit a young professional in a business setting, the build quality is not the best of the crop. For one, the whole body of the laptop is made from plastic, and it feels like it. Having said that, the overall aesthetic of the laptop does not ‘look’ plasticky or cheap. This 15.6" laptop also comes with a full-sized keyboard, and the keys are backlit too. The keys also require a little more pressure for its handling or typing, but it shouldn't be a problem for most of the users. The G3 3579 comes equipped with three USB 3.1 ports, an SD card reader, an HDMI 2.0 port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a headphone/mic combo port, dual-band WiFi chip, and Bluetooth 5.0. This stylish gaming laptop is also available in 3 gorgeous colors - Liquorice Black, Alpine White and Recon Blue. While this laptop is an excellent purchase for its low budget price, it can hardly satisfy the 'gaming needs' of a hardcore gamer or be classified as a full gaming laptop. It is more suitable for the casual gamers who do not see the need for a high-end gaming laptop.
