The Nothing Dream Phone concept smartphone shows what a modern smartphone might look like if customer preferences were actually taken into account. With a compact 5.9-inch display and a body that does away with the camera bump entirely, the Nothing Dream Phone is certainly unusual.

It’s no secret that smartphones follow trends and are becoming increasingly similar in many ways. Modern smartphones are generally relatively large and thin, while popular features like the 3.5 mm headphone jack have almost disappeared from the smartphone market. Even devices like the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro ($509 on Amazon) follow these trends.

However, in the video embedded below, Nothing showcases a concept smartphone that takes its customers’ wishes into account. This Nothing Dream Phone is intended to show what a modern smartphone would look like if it didn’t just follow trends but instead implemented the community’s most frequently mentioned wishes. Above all, customers want a more compact smartphone, which is why the Dream Phone features a 5.9-inch screen.

Customers complain that camera modules are protruding further and further from the body. For this reason, the Dream Phone is thick enough to allow the cameras to sit flush with the body. This also allows Nothing to make room for both a 3,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, despite the phone’s compact dimensions.

To avoid bloatware, which also is a problem on Nothing phones, the Dream Phone simply does away with an operating system altogether, allowing buyers to decide for themselves which OS to install. The pop-up selfie camera not only provides a high-quality front camera without a punch hole but also protects users’ privacy. The Nothing Dream Phone is currently just a concept; Nothing has no plans at this time to actually bring such a smartphone to market.
