Citizen has revealed a new limited edition Attesa watch inspired by the JAXA HTV-X, the International Space Station’s new cargo transporter. Developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the HTV-X will be used for resupply missions, replacing the older H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV) cargo spacecraft.
This special edition Attesa watch, also known as model AT8289-67E, has a black dial with gold flecks. The dial is surrounded by a deep blue ring and protected by anti-reflective Sapphire glass. It also has a black Super Titanium casing and strap, with a Duratect DLC coating to improve scratch resistance. Plus, the luminous gold hands and indexes, a similar color to the Jaxa HTV-X, make it easier to tell the time at night.
Citizen’s Attesa Jaxa HTV-X is an Eco-Drive watch, meaning it can be powered by natural and artificial light; in power save mode, a full charge will allow the timepiece to run for ten months. It is radio-controlled receiving time signals in Japan, China, the USA and Europe. The Direct Flight world time function is said to make it easier to use the crown to adjust the time and date across 26 time zones. Equipped with the Citizen H800 movement, the calendar is fully automatic to the year 2100, and there is also a 1/20th second Chronograph, an up to 60 minute timer. It is also worth noting that this watch is water resistant to 10 bar.
The Citizen Attesa Jaxa HTV-X AT8289-67E watch is scheduled to launch globally in September 2025; in the US, it will retail for $1,417. Only 1,300 pieces will be available worldwide, with the allocation per country unclear.
