Dongfeng Motor has folded its eπ (Yipai), Fengshen, and Nano sub-brands into a new subsidiary called Dongfeng eπ Technology, which was revealed during a strategic event in Wuhan. The reorganisation establishes two pillars: Dongfeng eπ for high-tech new-energy vehicles and Dongfeng Fengshen for more conventional ICE and hybrid offerings.
The subsidiary plans to introduce its first solid-state battery electric vehicles in 2026. Using silicon-carbon and high-nickel chemistries with solid electrolytes, the pack is designed for higher energy density and thermal stability, with a projected range beyond 1,000 km (≈ 620 mi) on a single charge.
A next-generation electric platform running at more than 1,000 V and featuring a 1,700 V silicon-carbide power module will support a peak 12C charging rate and a 30,000 rpm motor. Dongfeng is concurrently developing a "dual-megawatt" fast-charge solution that can replenish about 450 km (≈ 280 mi) of range in five minutes. The first production vehicle on this architecture is due in 2026.
The products are split into two series. The Mainstream Technology Series (Nano 01, Nano 06, eπ 007, and eπ 008) targets younger, tech-oriented buyers. The Smart Premium Series, co-developed with Huawei, will debut in 2026 as a full-size SUV running HarmonyOS 5 and the QianKun ADS 4 driver-assistance suite.
Dongfeng Fengshen will concentrate on small- to midsize vehicles, promising at least two launches or refreshes per year and ten models by 2028. In parallel, Dongfeng eπ Technology intends to field more than 30 export models and build a 2,000-store global retail network by 2027.
