Cheapest Cybertruck standard features list reveals Tesla yanked everything from the Foundation Series package down to the bed rings
Tesla started notifying early Cybertruck reservation holders that they can now configure its non-Foundation Series trims that are $20,000 cheaper.
The base dual-motor Cybertruck AWD version now starts from $79,990, while the tri-motor Cyberbeast is just under $100,000. In addition, the cheapest Cybertruck now also qualifies for the government's $7,500 commercial vehicle tax credit amount, and it will probably be certified for the regular point-of-sale private buyer tax credit as well.
By purchasing the $79,990 AWD Cybertruck, however, future owners eschew a lot of what comes with the Foundation Series package, such as Tesla's laundry list of extras and options:
- Laser-Etched Foundation Series Badges
- Foundation Series Cabin Graphic
- Full Self-Driving (Supervised)
- Lifetime Premium Connectivity
- Powershare Home Backup Capability
- Powershare Mobile Connector
- $2,500 Tesla Shop Credit
- All-Weather Interior Liners
- Glass Roof Sunshade
- Center Console Tray
- Gear Locker Dividers
- Vault D-Rings
- L-Track Hooks
- L-Track Bottle Opener
Moreover, for Foundation Series owners any combination of wheels and interior comes included in the pricing, as does the Cybertruck FSD option.
The Full Self-Driving (Supervised) feature alone is worth $7,000, though Tesla is honoring that promotional pricing for any Cybertruck owner, including those who configure the sub-$80,000 AWD non-Foundation Series trim.
Unfortunately, a quick look around the first such Cybertruck delivered shows that Tesla is not kidding with the removal of the $20,000 Foundation Series package.
Besides airbrushing the honorable badging, it has also removed everything else associated with the premium trim, down to the truck bed rings and is selling them separately as a $40 accessory. The "all-weather" rubber floor mats are missing, too, as is the silver tray in the lower central console, plus the steering wheel has a different design.
The owner of the cheapest Cybertruck, however, has posted the standard features list that comes with their base AWD model, and the electric pickup does come with basic Autopilot included. This means that even the sub-$80,000 Cybertruck seemingly comes with Tesla's cruise control that matches its speed to that of the traffic around the pickup, as well as Autosteer that keeps it in the lane, and for some drivers this is all the automation they need. The Cybertruck FSD option can still be purchased extra, though, and its early reviews have been pretty encouraging.
