Cheap Snapdragon phone for the masses: JioPhone Next specs, release date, and price prediction surface
Last month we reported about the “world’s most affordable Android smartphone” and now it seems the JioPhone Next can add another epithet to its collection: “Cheap Snapdragon phone for the masses”. The specs for the JioPhone Next have been shared by a couple of sources, and for the predicted price it certainly doesn’t scrub up too badly. The Snapdragon 215 SoC is the processor of choice here, a 4-core chip that can clock at up to 1,300 MHz. The iGPU is the Adreno 308, and this chipset is capable of supporting Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G connectivity.
Apparently, 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants of the JioPhone Next will be made available, and the display will be a 1440x720 panel surrounded by chunky bezels that contain an 8 MP selfie camera (GalaxyCore GC8034W) in the top edge. As for software, the JioPhone Next is “created with Google” so Android Go 11 is unsurprisingly onboard. Shutterbugs can get creative with the OmniVision OV13B10 13 MP main camera sensor that supports HDR, FHD+ video recording, and it even has a night mode.
It has already been announced by Reliance Jio that the JioPhone Next is to be released on September 10 but the price tag has not been officially revealed yet. The phone will be targeted at consumers in India and other countries who cannot consider the latest Galaxy or Mi smartphone as a viable purchase option, so the price tag is expected to very cheap. A prediction made by Tech4Addiction has gone with a figure of ₹3,000, which is equivalent to about US$40.
