Users of ChatGPT in India have reported issues with OpenAI’s conversational chatbot. According to the ChatGPT status page, there were elevated numbers of errors detected enduring this Wednesday.

According to reports of local media, users were unable to access the chatbot, while others were facing delays in obtaining answers. Starting at approximately 11:30 Indian Standard Time (8:00 CET), users began reporting issues on the platform.

According to the status page, at this time, it “identified that users are experiencing elevated errors for the impacted services.” The company started monitoring and mitigation processes, but at 9:36 CET, there were still a high number of errors detected.

At least 23 services were affected, including login, search, Dalle-E, web and mobile apps, among many others.

According to OpenAI, the issues were fully resolved, and the chatbot is now fully operational by 10:00 CET.

This happens shortly after OpenAI introduced a new subscription plan specifically for India, with a lower price, in an attempt to attract free users to upgrade to a pro version. This plan is ChatGPT Go, priced at INR399 a month, equivalent to around $4.6.

According to OpenAI, this gives extended access to GPT-5, image generation, file uploads, advanced data analysis, etc.
