Cambridge Audio has announced another pair of TWS earbuds, its third so far. In 2019, the company released the Melomania 1, which we thoroughly enjoyed when we reviewed them last year. Cambridge Audio then launched the Melomania Touch, details about which you can find here. We are yet to finish reviewing the Melomania Touch because of issues we experienced with our initial pair, but our review should be up shortly.
While the Melomania Touch was not a successor to 2019's Melomania 1, the company's latest pair of TWS earbuds are. Appropriately called the Melomania 1+, the earbuds address the Melomania 1's shortcomings that we covered in our review. Arguably, the switch from micro USB to USB Type-C charging is the biggest change with the Melomania 1+, which may seem minor. However, it means that you can recharge the Melomania 1+ with the same cable you do with your smartphone or laptop, rather than having to keep a micro USB cable on hand as we did for the Melomania 1.
The Melomania 1+ also supports Cambridge Audio's High-Performance Audio mode that it introduced with the Melomania Touch. The 5.8 mm drivers from the Melomania 1 remain, though. Additionally, the Melomania 1+ can be configured using Cambridge Audio's Melomania app, which provides a 5-band equaliser, a Find my Earbuds feature, along with the option of switching audio modes and Bluetooth codecs. It seems that Cambridge Audio has made the L and R labels easier to identify too. Specifically, the company has used blue text rather than white or grey as it did with the Melomania 1, although it would be great if this were a pair of LEDs, instead.
The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ retails for US$139.95, £119.95 in the UK and €129.95 in the Eurozone. The TWS earbuds are shipping now either from Cambridge Audio or Amazon.
