For folks who want a no-frills rugged device that just works, the Cat S62 Pro is easy to recommend. Also for people who require infrared thermal scanning on the job, like oil drilling, chemical plants, and oil refineries, this device is a no-brainer. The Cat S62 Pro also has good Android Enterprise support along with EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management). This makes it a top contender for IT departments at companies that have a lot of workers needing rugged smartphones. For the casual user, though, you might want to consider getting a Pixel 6 and putting a sturdy rugged case on it for roughly the same price and overall a vastly superior smartphone experience.

A large portion of the Cat S62 Pro’s $649 price went towards having the best thermal sensor and an ultra-durable design, which means sacrifices were made pretty much everywhere else. At best, this phone performs as well as mid-range phones that cost hundreds of dollars less. Flir sells thermal camera attachments for both iOS and Android devices, so you could theoretically turn almost any phone into a thermal imaging device. However, the Flir One Gen 3 attachment costs $229.99, and carrying around a separate camera module is a lot less convenient than an all-in-one device like the Cat S62 Pro.

You'll find better performing rugged phones elsewhere at this price point, or significantly cheaper if performance isn't a priority and you don't need the FLIR sensor. Clearly, this isn't a phone designed to appeal to everyone, but for those who want great quality FLIR imaging, the CAT S62 Pro is an incredible choice.

When buying a CAT phone you can expect a solid rugged device that can be used in an outdoor professional environment without worrying too much if it’s going to withstand a bit of rough and tumble. You’re not getting the best processor or most amazing camera (although taking pics in infrared is pretty damn amazing), but it will serve you in good stead. Indeed, the battery life might have decreased, but overall the S62 Pro feels like a decent upgrade from the S61.

Very few phones offer the sort of rugged protection for your device that the Cat S62 Pro has, and throw in a thermal imaging camera as well. If you think you'll make use of those two strengths of the phone, then the relative weaknesses aren't going to bother you.

This device offers an excellent user experience and has features that could be especially useful in some sectors. The only caveats are a relatively low-resolution camera for a flagship design and the curious lack of wireless charging.

Bullitt Group, known for building Cat-branded rugged smartphones, has launched its brand-new Cat S62 Pro. It has been unveiled as a flagship phone with an advanced thermal camera. It is undeniable that the new Cat S62 Pro is obviously sleeker than its predecessor, with updated specifications including a more powerful platform and a high-resolution thermal imaging camera. As far as the design is concerned, this smartphone is certainly not the chunkiest phone ever seen, but it has absolutely taken the ruggedness and toughness quite seriously with its top-level IP68 and IP69 rating for waterproofing and dustproofing. Apart from that, it should be noted that the phone has also passed the MIL-STD-810 military standard test for durability and robustness. In real terms, it can survive drops of up to 1.8 meters (6 feet) onto solid steel.
As for its display, the Cat S62 Pro has been equipped with a 5.7-inch LCD display with 1080 x 2160 pixels. However, it is not as sharp, as bright or as fast as the panels on some of the other phones available at this price point. In terms of connectivity, there is a single USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. There is also a microSD-card slot, but no headphone jack, which is quite a drawback for those headphone lovers out there. In addition, there is an extra button on the side that can be set up with a custom app shortcut, and also a fingerprint sensor on the back for user convenience.
The thermal camera has to be the highest selling point of this smartphone. The Cat S62 Pro has turned to industry experts FLIR and their Lepton 3.5 camera, which is a professional-grade, high-resolution option that is significantly sharper than thermal cameras on previous Cat phones (and on competitive handsets). While the camera can only be accessed through the dedicated FLIR app, not the normal camera app, it only takes a few seconds before it is up and running. The camera comes with a whole host of different options to play around with, including limiting the temperature range, blending the thermal image with the image from the phone's actual camera, taking specific temperature readings and pictures with annotations, changing the colour scheme, and much more. The manufacturer has definitely done a really nice job here.
Apart from the thermal camera, the Cat S62 Pro also has a single-lens 12MP snapper on the back that does the basics in terms of smartphone photography but not much more than that. While it is capable of getting some good results in decent lighting, it cannot really match up to other phone cameras at this price point in terms of sharpness, colour balancing and shooting images in low light. As for the battery, the phone has been equipped with a 4,000mAh battery that can last for a day even with extensive usage. Overall, the Cat S62 Pro is definitely a great phone to be explored, depending on one’s choice and need.

The Cat S62 Pro is a rugged smartphone manufactured by the well-known machinery manufacturer Caterpillar (CAT). The Cat S62 Pro has greatly upgraded all functions. The screen has been enlarged to 5.7 inches (FHD+, 18:9), the memory has been upgraded to 6 GB of RAM / 128 GB of ROM, FLIR has been upgraded to the Lepton 3.5 professional thermal display Image module, and there is also a new fingerprint recognition function. The sturdiness of the mobile phone will not let the user down. It has passed the MIL-STD-810H military test and is therefore sturdy and durable; its dust-proof, anti-fouling and sand-proof grade reaches IP68. It can be used normally after dropping it on steel from as high as 1.8 meters (nearly 6 feet), and it can work underwater for 35 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters (nearly 5 feet). The super-bright screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, which is scratch-resistant, wear-resistant and ultra-durable. The company also claims that it is readable under strong light and supports wet finger and glove operation.
In addition, it is equipped with a faster chipset, Android 10 (upgradable to 11), and powerful upgrades in terms of specifications. The new Cat S62 Pro is built with address all needs with its top hardware. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage. The card slot can be used to expand the storage. The Cat S62 Pro is equipped with a 12-megapixel single camera on the back and an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It has a built-in 4,000 mAh lithium battery that supports fast charging, but cannot be removed. The biggest highlight of this smartphone is the thermal imaging camera which has four times the pixel-capture capability of the previous model. The FLIR Lepton technology installed in the camera module promises a higher and clearer resolution for identifying hot and cold areas in the range of -20°C (-4°F) to 400°C (752°F).
Additionally, the Cat S62 Pro comes with a two-year warranty and three-year software update guarantee. Conclusively, the Cat S62 Pro is a rugged smartphone with great hardware capabilities. It is suitable for working professionals who work in tough environments and require a smartphone that can survive accidental drops or spills.

5.70":
It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

CAT, which can be easier found under CAT Phones in the web, gets seldom reviewed, does hardly have any market shares and achieves average ratings (as of 2016).
80.68%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
