Bosch unveils Active Line 2026: lighter, more powerful mid-drive

Bosch has unveiled a new generation of its Active Line Plus mid-drive motor. While this series is not the most powerful in Bosch’s lineup, it has consistently proven more than capable in real-world use, delivering enough support to accelerate an e-bike to 25 km/h with ease and handle climbs confidently. Originally introduced in 2017, the updated Active Line Plus now delivers up to 600 watts of peak assistance. As required by EU regulations, rated continuous output remains limited to 250 watts. Torque is specified at 60 Nm, and the system can amplify rider input by up to 340 percent.
Bosch also emphasises improved responsiveness, an important factor for ride quality, as smoother power delivery enables more controlled starts. The new generation is also more compact and lighter, weighing 2.7 kilograms - around 500 grams less than its predecessor - and featuring a 17 percent reduction in volume. This allows for sleeker frame integration and less bulky mid-drive designs.
Alongside the motor, Bosch introduced the PowerTube 720 battery. Weighing 3.9 kilograms, it is rated for a range of up to 185 kilometres under optimal conditions. Bosch has also updated its ConnectModule, which now supports Bluetooth Low Energy-based location tracking. This enables more precise positioning, even in environments where GPS coverage is limited, such as indoors or in basements.
