Deal | Best-price deal: Pirate RPG with tons of loot and builds now just around $2

In Rum & Gun, players take on the role of an aspiring pirate captain searching for treasure across the Indian Ocean. Created by solo developer Borington, the adventure combines fast-paced top-down shooter action with classic RPG elements. The game is currently 50% off on Steam, bringing the price down to just $2.49 instead of the usual $4.99. According to SteamDB, that matches its previous all-time low, last reached during the 2026 Summer Sale.
On the journey to becoming a legendary pirate captain, players explore tropical islands, plunder treasure and attempt to uncover the secrets of the mysterious "Drunken God." Combat takes place from a top-down perspective, with firearms, cutlasses and even magical abilities at players' disposal. There are also classic RPG mechanics, including a leveling system with unlockable talents and magical runes. On top of that, there's plenty of weapons and equipment to loot, opening up numerous possibilities for experimenting with different character builds. The pirate RPG doesn't take itself too seriously, either. Instead of drinking healing potions, players down rum – and those who feel like it can even take down zombies while playing the fiddle. The campaign consists of four acts, complemented by an arena mode, endless treasure hunts and LAN co-op.

Players particularly enjoy the combat system, which is described as a mix of a Diablo-style action RPG and a twin-stick shooter, making for a highly entertaining experience. The setting, extensive character progression and surprisingly substantial amount of content also receive praise. According to players, the campaign offers around 10 to 20 hours of gameplay. However, the controls reportedly take some getting used to, while the campaign can become somewhat repetitive toward the end. Despite these shortcomings, Rum & Gun has earned a 92% positive rating from around 400 Steam reviews. The game is also rated Playable on the Steam Deck. Anyone who wants to try it before buying can find a free demo on itch.io that runs directly in a browser. However, the developer warns that this version is significantly outdated.
