Beelink SEi 8 launches with an Intel Core i5-8279U from US$479
Beelink is known as a manufacturer of affordable mini-PCs, as we have covered previously. The company recently unveiled the GKmini, but it has only been a few months since a Core i5-8259U edition of the SEi 8 arrived. Now, the company has tweaked the latter by releasing it with a Core i5-8279U.
According to our database, the Core i5-8279U offers negligible improvements over the Core i5-8259U. Specifically, the former has a 100 MHz higher base clock and a 300 MHz higher boost clock. Additionally, the Iris Plus Graphics 655 GPU runs at up to 1,150 MHz in the Core i5-8279U, 100 MHz more than it does in the Core i5-8259U.
Currently, Beelink offers the SEi 8 with 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM, which it ties to 256 GB and 512 GB of storage, respectively. However, the company equips the machine with dual-channel SO-DIMM RAM and an M.2 2280 SSD, so you are not fixed in terms of storage or RAM. Incidentally, the SEi 8, or SEi 8279U as Beelink also calls it, has a 2.5-inch drive bay for even more storage.
Currently, Beelink sells the new machine through Amazon or on its website. Both models come with five USB 3.0 ports, dual HDMI connections and Gigabit LAN. The SEi 8279U starts at US$479 for the 8 GB of RAM model. The company charges US$559 for more RAM and a larger SSD, though.
