The hype for Battlefield 6 continues to build up as almost 50,000 players are already waiting their turn in the queue, looking at a “Game Server Full” message on the game’s title screen. These figures are in play even though Battlefield 6’s Early Access doesn’t start until August 7, 2025, at 9 am BST.
The anticipation surrounding EA and DICE’s Battlefield 6 even pre-release is pretty high, as 10,000 players had been idling on the Closed Beta’s menu as early as August 5, with the number almost quintupling in a mere day. Speculation suggests that the number will easily pass the six figures when the Open Beta goes live in the coming days.
Battlefield 6’s Closed Beta will stretch from August 7 to August 8 and allows only a select few players to try out the game before the Open Beta kicks off. Users who signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31, EA Play Pro subscribers, and players who sat through 30 minutes of Battlefield 6 livestreams during the July 31 event and obtained keys via Twitch Drops will be able to play the Closed Beta.
A Larger-than Expected Turnout?
Despite the limited Early Access, the staggering number of players waiting in line has turned heads in the gaming community. Still, it also sounds alarms regarding server stability, which remains an ongoing source of concern for developers and players alike.
The influx of a large number of players this early into the game’s Closed Beta is because the pre-load file size is a manageable 35-40 GB, making it pretty easy to jump in the queue. However, DICE might need to ramp up server capacity as soon as possible to avoid repeating its missteps with Battlefield 2042’s bumpy launch.
Furthermore, players who couldn’t get a spot in the Closed Beta will be able to play during the Open Beta Weekends of August 9–10, and 14–17, across all platforms, including PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
Battlefield 6 will officially launch on October 10, 2025, putting it a month ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s November 14 release date. DICE might be under a bit of pressure as chatter continues on social media platforms, suggesting that the servers will crash day one, but EA and DICE might have anticipated this, as EA expects Battlefield 6 to hit a potential 100 million player mark once its free-to-play battle royale mode is in play.
