Asus readies ZenPad tablets with Intel CPU's for Computex
As leaks from the FCC and several Russian online stores suggest, Asus is planning to launch its new ZenPad 7 and ZenPad 8 tablets next month. The former will be a budget-friendly device based on Intel SoFIA platform. ZenPad 8, on the other hand will be positioned more towards the top of Asus tablet line-up and will come with high-resolution display. Both devices will be announced at Computex 2015 and will substitute the Asus MeMo Pad series tablets.
The ZenPad 7 will be outfitted with an Intel Atom-x3 C3200RK or x3-C3230RK (Intel SoFIA) clocked at 1.4 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 8 or 16 GB of storage space and a 7-inch, 1024x600 resolution IPS display. The tablet will come with 3950 mAh battery and run Android 5.0 Lollipop. ZenPad 7 will be available in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G versions. The former one will reportedly be priced at 139 Euro and the latter at 159 Euro.
The other tablet, ZenPad 8, will sport a 2048 x 1536 resolution display, an Intel Atom Z3560 or Z3460 processor, along with 2 GB of RAM and 8 to 64 GB of storage. Unsurprisingly, the ZenPad 8 will run Lollipop as well. There is no price information on the 8-inch yet. The new tablets could be unveiled along with ZenWatch 2, at Computex Taipei, which starts on June 2.
