While one of the more budget-friendly configurations of the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED may make a compelling case as a top value pick, it’s difficult to be disappointed with the more expensive model we reviewed here. At its core, for all models, it’s a luxury-built laptop with extreme portability and a gorgeous OLED display. Our unit rocks with a snappy Core i9 processor for getting real work done, and the discrete GPU—even if it has a clear power ceiling—is a bonus for creative pros. It’s not the least expensive laptop around, but the 14X OLED occupies a more middle-road position in this category that may appeal to those who don’t want to approach the $2,000 mark. While you don’t have to spend too much more for that big jump in graphics performance, this probably isn’t the best value for those shoppers.

ASUS had told me later on there will be a Zenbook 14X version equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, Intel Core i9 CPU, and 32GB of RAM. That may seem like overkill for a work laptop. However, if you see yourself doing a lot of video editing or running a ton of apps in the background, consider this third option. Unfortunately, I don't know when it'll launch. All I can do is suggest you keep your eyes peeled.

There’s a lot to love when it comes to the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED. While its performance benchmark results are rarely exceptional, in day to day use, this laptop is often a joy to use. If you can get over those noisy fans, the 14X’s impeccable OLED display truly is a wonder. The screen looks gorgeous, the keyboard is a delight to type on and the 13th Gen Intel CPU and discrete Nvidia GPU give it enough power to handle everything from office work to light gaming. While it can’t compete with the best MacBooks in a testing environment, and there are certainly attractive alternatives when it comes to the best gaming laptops, this Zenbook’s combination of stellar display, CPU grunt and general aesthetic quality make it easy to recommend for people in the market for a new laptop who have a healthy budget.

While I can be British and make a hullabaloo about the battery life not quite being where I’d want it to be, the reality is this is a really good option to buy. The Asus Zenbook 14X OLED gives you a gorgeous touchscreen, great ergonomics, and plenty of power for even pretty intense tasks that your average creative pro would throw at it — all at a reasonable price. Is it a MacBook Pro murderer? Not so much, but it is still a good system that’s quite the looker, too. Whether you’re looking to turbo boost your workload, you want to get creative with some touchscreen art, or you have eyes on this as a laptop to whip out at college when you go back to school, the 14X OLED is a good pick.

Overall, the only notable shortcomings of this notebook are that the trackpad can be prone to random fits of erratic behaviour and that it doesn’t have a touchscreen. If the latter bugs you, let ASUS know on their social media channels because I’ve heard that they might bring in the touchscreen version. Make noise and let them know the folly of their ways. Otherwise, if you are looking for a powerful yet portable notebook, the ZenBook 14X has to be on your shortlist.

The Asus Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404) is a smart, light, laptop that comes with a touchscreen so beautiful you might not want to touch it. Asus has also included some unique features in this device, including a number pad in the trackpad, as well as a powerful processor. Business users might find themselves attracted to this device because of its host of features, as well as being light and portable. It's worth looking at, especially if you work in an industry or role where you can use its touchscreen.

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
