This Ryzen 7 + 3050Ti 14-inch VivoBook Pro 14X M7400 is a competitive performance ultraportable in the mid-priced segment, able to efficiently handle daily chores, demanding workloads, and even gaming, to some extent. Its primary selling point is, however, that awesome 2.8K 16:10 OLED screen that Asus puts on this series, as otherwise, there are more powerful 14-inch options that you can find within the same budget right now, with lesser-quality IPS screens. Just make sure you understand the particularities of OLED laptop screens before taking the plunge here.

Quite frankly, we were surprised by this laptop in pretty much every aspect. It offers a performance that puts to shame some titans manufactured a couple of years ago. They were expensive, and super bulky, in contrast to the slim chassis of the VivoBook Pro 14X OLED (M7400) and its relatively affordable price tag. Even the battery life was pretty good, given the high resolution of the screen, and its 90Hz refresh rate. We got up to 10 hours of Web browsing or 8 hours of video playback with a single charge. Speaking of which, ASUS VivoBook Pro 14X OLED (M7400)’s 90Hz display has a high resolution, rather high maximum brightness, comfortable viewing angles, and practically infinite contrast ratio. Additionally, it has super-fast pixel response times and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. This allows for a very punchy and vibrant image. This panel also features HDR support, and with the HDR mode enabled in Windows, you get a pretty respectable color accuracy. Let’s not forget the fact that the ProArt app offers you the opportunity to calibrate the display.

For the price, the Asus Vivobook Pro 14X is a decent all-round performer that would suit anyone who seeking a mid-price laptop. It handles all the day-to-day tasks most people need a laptop for well. And while it certainly isn't a gaming laptop, it's fine for playing the odd game on, as long as you're not too fussy about super-smooth frame-rates and responsiveness. If that includes you, though, this is a decent compromise, with a beautiful screen that punches above its price. So if you're looking for a laptop for creative use, but are watching the pennies carefully, this is a good value choice overall.

But that is the one and major flaw about the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED N7400P. I really can’t find any other flaws about this laptop. It has a great build quality, fantastically sized, utilizes an amazing OLED screen with 16:10 aspect ratio, great keyboard, and also comes with great specs. For the price of RM4,799, I’ll pick this laptop over the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED M3500Q. This laptop just feels much more refined and much more comfortable to use – especially since it doesn’t have a number pad. But oh – there is yet another ASUS laptop around this price range – the Zenbook Pro 14X. It has comparable specs with this ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED N7400P and the starting price is also very similar. We’ll do a comparison between these laptops another time – so stay tuned.

Asus Vivobook 14X OLED costs Rs 94,900 for the base model and it’s not an ordinary price to pay. Case in point, it's not an ordinary laptop as well. Not because it offers something out of the ordinary in the package, it’s because it offers features that matter. For instance, the OLED panel is among the best you can find at this price. Other features like sleek and premium design, performance and battery life is also at par with other Windows laptops. So, if you are planning to buy a new laptop and have got a hefty budget, then Asus Vivobook 14X OLED is worth a look. It offers a good balance between design, features and performance.

The laptop is not equipped to handle intensive gaming and the fans spin up making a lot more noise than necessary for said tasks. That said, the Vivobook Pro 14X is definitely a ‘Pro’ when it comes to the display and the amount of colour calibration that has gone down to make it. I’m certain very few laptops will be able to match the quality, dynamic range and overall soothing tones of the Vivobook Pro 14X’s panel. The battery life is also quite respectable and I love how well Harman/kardon has tuned the speakers. The price tag could be very enticing for users with requirements that specifically target colour grading and other imaging and video-centric tasks performed by creators.

I had the VivoBook Pro 14X for almost two weeks and it's one of the best 14-inch laptops you can buy right now. It's not the most powerful one and that's something you should keep in mind. Asus is targeting the entry-level content creators here who don't want to purchase an expensive laptop or switch to the Apple ecosystem. They should be satisfied with the performance. The laptop handles daily tasks with ease. In fact, it's better at taking on the demanding tools than a lot of other options in the market. The Pros should opt for other machines though. I would recommend the Asus VivoBook Pro 14X OLED for two reasons - it's gorgeous OLED display and impressive battery life. I would say that it is a compact multi-purpose laptop that's not too heavy on your pocket.

There’s a lot to talk about here, so be patient. We want to take the bad stuff out of the way first. An annoying, yet almost mandatory feature is the lack of memory upgrades. The RAM here is soldered to the motherboard, which allows it to remain small-enough, and have good cooling. You see, the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401) is a really well-balanced machine. You get some of everything. Of course, we can miss mentioning a feature or two, but you are the one that will really miss out if you don’t consider having it in your possession.
