The UL30VT A1 is an amazingly capable and portable device with its weight, power and battery life. If you're not sure whether you want a netbook or a more powerful laptop, the UL30VT or a similar model from Asus is a great choice that gives you the best of both worlds. Asus laptop computer reviews of this model have been almost uniformly positive.

Seeing as these laptops offer both a very reasonable price tag as well as vastly improved performance over the Atom platform it has been viewed as the natural successor to netbooks. While the netbook will probably live on for quite some time in one form or another, it’s a fact that some consumers are less than satisfied with the poor performance offered by netbooks and some have started to look towards CULV alternatives.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Onboard (shared Memory) GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Because of two more shaders and a higher core clock, much faster than the old GMA X3100. Still not advisable for gamers (DirectX 10 games not playable or only with very low settings). The integrated video processor is able to help decode HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , e.g., for a fluent Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).

The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.

SU7300: Slow clocked dual core processor with a low TDP of 10 Watt.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

13.30":

Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

1.5 kg:

In former time,s this weight was typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, often 15 inch laptops weigh as much.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, a Taiwanese multinational company, produces motherboards, graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, computer monitors, notebook computers, servers, networking products, mobile phones, computer cases, computer components, and computer cooling systems. The company's 2007 revenues reached US$6.9 billion. ASUS also produces components for other manufacturers. The Eee PC initiated the netbook boom in 2008.

In the notebook sector, Asus had a global market share of about 11% from 2014-2016, making it the fourth largest laptop manufacturer. In the smartphone sector, Asus is not among the Top 5 and has only a small market share (as of 2016).

98%: This notebook model is regarded by the reviewers to be exceptionally good. There hardly exist laptops, which are rated so good. If this rating can be taken seriously, this is a clear recommendation for purchase.
