Asus ROG NUC 16 Limited Edition packs RTX 5090 in transparent mini PC

The Asus ROG NUC 16 offers above all a higher performance than the older ROG NUC 15 ($2,499 on Amazon). To mark the 20th anniversary of the "Republic of Gamers" brand, Asus is now launching the mini PC as an even faster Edition 20. Similar to the ROG Xbox Ally X20, Asus has opted for a slightly transparent case with golden design accents.
There are also significant technical differences. Asus sticks to the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX, but combines the chip with up to 128 GB DDR5-6400 RAM in the form of two CSO-DIMMs instead of conventional SO-DIMMs. However, the biggest difference in performance is the graphics card, as Asus replaces the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU with an GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, which has 31 percent more shaders and 24 GB instead of 16 GB GDDR7 graphics memory.
The basic structure hardly changes, the mini PC is still about the same size as a 14-inch gaming laptop, but is slightly heavier due to the complex cooling system with three fans and weighs in at 3.12 kilograms. With the included stand, the ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 can be placed upright to reduce the required desk space.
The device offers Thunderbolt 4 port (USB-C), four USB-A ports, two HDMI 2.1 ports, two DisplayPort 2.1 ports and an Ethernet port, whereby a wireless connection to the home network can also be established via Wi-Fi 7. Asus installs a 2 TB PCIe 5.0 SSD as standard, the storage can be expanded at a later date with an additional PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD.
