Gaming across two or more monitors can create a highly immersive gaming experience delivering a wide field of view. However, it can be a little annoying that the bezels of each adjoining monitor creates a thick black line between panels. Team ROG from Asus has developed a new Bezel-Free Kit that fits between the corners of each monitor to create the illusion that each is joined to create what appears to be a seamless connection between monitors.
Although it seems like the corners magically disappear, the ROG team have used a trick of light created when monitors are placed at a 130-degree angle and covered with PET plastic filled with optical micro-structures to refract light by bending it inwards held in place by mounts. This gives the impression that the display just wraps around from monitor to monitor. According to Asus, the PET panel lets through 90 percent of light.
It isn’t a perfect solution, but Asus says it will work with any flat panel monitor up to 27-inches. The kit also comes with two assemblies meaning that it will work for up to three monitors but will leave you with a spare one if you are only joining two panels. It isn’t especially cheap at US$110 but could save you from forking out the big bucks for a new Samsung Odyssey G9 49-inch 1000R curved display when it launches in Q2 this year.
