Asus NX500JK-DR013H
The most striking feature of the Asus NX500JK is its aluminium body, which is sleek and supple to the touch. The entire shell is made a single, solid piece of aluminum, which is firm yet lightweight. Additionally, it is only 1.9 cm thick and would fit comfortably into any case or backpack. Beyond the impressive build, users will find an Intel i7 quad core processor with a base clock of 2.2 GHz and a turbo clock of up to 3.2 GHz.
Other hardware include a 512 GB hard drive, an NVIDIA GTX 850M graphics card and 12 GB DDR3 RAM with a speed of 1.6 GHz. The keyboard is silver and comes with a backlight. The keys are large enough for comfortable usage and do not stick. The rather small touchpad in the middle of the base unit works pretty well. Two speakers grilles are beside the keyboard. This design is unique to Asus, and doesn't diminish sound quality at all.
Another striking feature of this device is its large 15.6 inch screen. It supports touch input and features a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and an impressive refresh rate of 4K. Contrast and black value are good. Display and upgrade-friendly options, make this laptop worth considering.

The Zenbook NX500 packs powerful hardware, a 4K screen and a big battery inside a sleek and beautiful body. But the performance under heavy load is not as expected, the keyboard is not great and the battery life is only average, which might not be enough to justify the high price tags.

The Zenbook NX500 is a bold addition to the company’s lineup. It’s the most powerful and most expensive Zenbook ever produced. We thought the previous model’s $1,949 price was high, but the new entry’s $2,699 MSRP makes it look like a bargain. What you get in return for shelling out almost three grand is a device that pushes the limits of Windows notebooks.

Alluring. Asus aims at tech enthusiasts with its new 15-inch Zenbook generation. The flat aluminum unibody houses a standard-voltage i7 processor paired with an upper middle-class Nvidia graphics card. The highlight of this model seems to be the 4K panel. It offers high resolutions, great colors, high contrast and wide viewing angles. Is this the winner?
Symbiosis. A powerful notebook does not have to be bulky and loud if it can also be dignified, subtle and quiet. Why pretentious and not understated? Asus thinks it knows what wealthy customers want and creates an Ultrabook that combines performance and elegance in a simple yet sophisticated chassis. Can this symbiosis really set new records in every category, just as Asus promises?

The Asus Zenbook NX500 is a well-made desktop-replacement laptop with excellent performance, but that's par for the course in this high-end category. While it's not the only 15-inch laptop to provide 4K resolution, it does so with top graphics performance and pretty good processing power, with several fine touches, like a premium design, high-quality audio, and touch capability. But, while performance is strong and the display is impressive, the price runs a little high. The Toshiba Satellite P50T-BST2N01 offers the same 4K resolution and premium design at a lower list price, while the latest Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display is considerably less expensive.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
