Artesian Builds, a custom PC builder that spiraled into bankruptcy following a Twitch streamer controversy, is putting up nearly US$1 million worth of components for auction in an attempt to pay off unfulfilled customer orders and other liabilities. At the time it filed for bankruptcy, Artesian Builds was US$3 million in debt, nearly half of which took the form of unfulfilled customer orders.
While a bankruptcy auction for PC parts might seem enticing in the current consumer GPU market, these parts will only be sold in lots with bidding price increments of US$5,000. This prices out individual buyers in favor of larger PC hardware builders and resellers. Worryingly, Artesian Builds will also be auctioning off its customer and influencer/collaborator lists, with contact information and other information for Artesian customers and influencers the brand worked with.
Artesian landed in hot water earlier this year after CEO Noah Katz made disparaging remarks on a Twitch giveaway stream. Katz refused on stream to give away an Artesian PC to streamer Kiapiaa and made remarks that the streamer described as "slander." After online outrage at the way Katz handled the giveaway, Artesian announced that it would be shuttering.
