Archos goes big: The Play Tab is a 21.5-inch Android tablet
While watching movies and videos on a 21.5-inch Android tablet instead of a laptop display/TV set/computer monitor seems a bit awkward, playing board games on such a tablet looks like an excellent choice. The best part is that the upcoming 21.5-inch Archos Play Tab promises to be much cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy View (or its successor), with a price tag of less than US$300.
According to the official press release, this Android slate "democratizes social play, while facilitating active learning, critical thinking and communication within family and friends." The Archos Play Tab was unveiled last week, but it will take a while for it to hit the market.
This upcoming Android Pie-driven slate has an unspecified octa-core processor inside, 3 GB of memory, 32 GB of internal storage, a 5,000 mAh battery, and runs Android 9.0 Pie. The resolution of the massive touchscreen display is full HD and should be more than enough so that its users can properly enjoy board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, Pandemic, and so on.
If everything goes as planned, the Archos Play Tab will hit the European market for this year's "Back to School" season at a price of €249 EUR (which currently converts to around US$281). There is no word about its international availability yet, but we will keep you posted as usual, so stay tuned.
