Archos 50 Helium 4G
The Archos 50 Helium 4G is a budget entry-level phone with 4G LTE support. It’s a cheap way for budget-conscious consumers to get their hands on a 4G LTE capable phone.
It comes with a 5-inch IPS display and is capable of HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels). The IPS technology ensures nice wide viewing angles with solid color rendering. The HD display also means that watching videos with the Archos 50 will actually be decent.
While 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm chip and 1 GB of RAM are not the most powerful specs, they are decent enough to run most apps and some 3D games. Web browsing will also be smooth but be mindful of the RAM limitations. It comes with 8 GB worth of storage and can be expanded with MicroSD card up to 64 GB.

A Quad Core Processor with 4G capability, a 5inch screen, 8MP rear camera and 8GB of memory are just the main features. Archos are a company that has made Tablets but a quick rack of my brain cannot remember any phones from them in the past. While this is a phone it is of course also a PDA and as it runs Android also a Tablet so a three in one device.

Archos has crafted itself a fully functional 4G phone, but it’s simply uninspiring thanks to its boring design, lack of standout features and an inadequate display. If you’re after bang for buck, Google's Nexus 5 gives you better specs and a better screen to boot, while Motorola's Moto G with 4G powers offers an overall much better priced bargain - we wish Archos would step it up, but it looks like just another middling mobile to us.

When a manufacturer does too much of one thing it can now and again lose sight of the point of a device. I really felt like that with the 80b Helium, it just felt like the sum of its parts as opposed to a load of unique and useful features combining to make a decent tablet. The lack of memory, low RAM and basic processor made it feel lack lustre and the inclusion of 4G just made you wonder what someone out and about would actually do with this tablet. Yes they maybe watch a film, play a game or do some work, but all of those would be compromised and a bit slow. Without 4G this tablet would make sense as a cheap tablet suitable for media playback, with 4G it just doesn’t feel right. It does look quite nice though.

Archos 50d Helium
Soon after the announcement of the 50 Helium Plus and the 55 Helium Plus, Archos officially unveils the birth of a new member, namely the Archos 50d Helium. This new phone is paired with Android 5.1 Lollipop and a 5-inch HD IPS display at a clear resolution of 1280 x 720. It can be considered a clone of the 50 Helium Plus. The main difference is its 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad core processor. In addition, it offers the convenience of dual SIM support, 1 GB of RAM and a Micro SD port to supplement the 8 GB of internal storage with an additional 64 GB. Connectivity wise, it unsurprisingly supports the fast 4G LTE network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and GPS. Other feature includes a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front shooter, which produce vivid and beautiful photos. The worst downside is perhaps its non-detachable 2100 mAh battery. There are not only the decent specification and superior performance, but also it comes with a unique offer – "two soft, stone-finished swappable rear panels in either Storm Blue or Stone Grey color tones", which perfectly suits every fashion stylist's taste. Overall, it is an affordable release with impressive power and budget-friendly price.Specifications

This is an Android 5.1.1 Phone that is thin and light but very smart in looks. Most recent phones have Quad Core Processors this is no exception, most recent phoneshave 4G again so does this, so what is unique perhaps its what is called Fusion Storage.

Aimed at the budget sector of the mobile market, and currently it is available for around £74, the Archos 70bHelium has been released under the banner of “Entertainment your way”. While some might regard the Archos 70b Helium as a bulky smartphone, I tend to feel that its size pushes it more into the phablet (a word that I do not find all that appealing) classification.

The strong battery life is another boon, as I found the 70b Helium should last at least 2 days depending on how often you use the tablet. One final area of discontent must be noted, however – and this is with the camera. I would guess ARCHOS tried to cut costs a little with the 2MP sensor as there is no autofocus and detail is sorely lacking. If you are looking for a tablet with a good camera, you will have to look elsewhere.

Archos 50f Helium
The ARCHOS 50f Helium is an affordable budget smartphone featuring decent hardware performance. Unveiled at the IFA 2016, the ARCHOS 50f Helium replaces the 50th release at the end of 2015 in an entry-level market segment with the 4G connection at an affordable price. For this 50f version of the Helium, Archos bet on the fingerprint reader and to increase the embedded memory. The ARCHOS 50f Helium is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, boosted with features such as Google Now on Tap, case-by-case app permissions, and Doze to monitor battery usage. The smartphone has rounded edges and metal finishes which gives it an elegant look despite being a low-cost smartphone. However, the color option of the smartphone is limited to only blue. The ARCHOS 50f Helium has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage space. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and an Adreno 304 graphic processor. Despite low price, users can expand the internal memory by up to 128 GB with a microSD card. For display, the ARCHOS 50f Helium features a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It uses the same display and the same processor as the 50th Helium released at the end of 2015. The smartphone measures at 144 × 72.1 × 9.1mm and weighs at 158 g. The integrated main camera with autofocus and LED flash captures images with a resolution of 8 MP, while the front camera allows for selfies with 2 MP. The ARCHOS 50f Helium can also be used as a media player with Archos Media Center applications, allowing the user to listen to music and watch videos in a variety of formats. It is also possible to stream movies stored on your PC on your smartphone. One highlight of the smartphone is the fingerprint sensor on the back of the mobile device, which can detect up to five fingers. Equipped with a fingerprint sensor on its backside, the ARCHOS 50f Helium can be unlocked with the mere touch of the fingerprint sensor. Finally, this 4G smartphone is well equipped in terms of connections: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, MicroUSB 2.0 and GPS. The ARCHOS 50f Helium also benefits from a Dual SIM port to manage two different networks. The SIM cards are placed in the dual SIM slot under the replaceable battery, which has a capacity of 2,100 mAh. With Qualcomm Quick Charge, the battery can be charged significantly faster. The smartphone has a battery life of up to 10 hours of call time and up to 400 hours on standby. The Archos 50f is a good addition to the mid range category but there might be better choices out there for similar price. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Archos 55 Helium Ultra
With Chinese manufacturers churning out smartphones at rapid pace in the smartphone market, it is interesting to see how European rivals match up by offering equally impressive alternatives. One such device is the 55 Helium Ultra by French manufacturer Archos, which offers various mid-range specs yet for a budget price tag. Its dimensions measure at 155.00 x 77.00 x 8.10 mm and it weighs 162 g. On first glance, the design of the smartphone is retained minimal and despite its low price factor, it is not cheap looking. There is protrusion from the camera on the rear side of the device, which some users would mind (or not). The display of the smartphone stands 5.50-inch with 1280 x 720 pixels. It is arguable that pixel density may not be as high yet considering the low price factor, it is pretty decent. Quality of images rendered is clear as it still qualifies as HD and does not appear to be substantially compromised. On the performance level, it is powered by MediaTek’s MT6737, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. This platform allows the smartphone to perform everyday tasks and web browsing a breeze. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to 128 GB with a microSD card. For optics, it comes with an 8 MP primary camera on its rear and 2 MP secondary camera. One should not expect too much from these specs; nonetheless, they are still capable of capturing decent images. Archos ships the 55 Helium Ultra in dual SIM mode. Battery life is above average as it comes with a non-removable battery rated at 2700 mAh. It comes pre-installed with Android 6.0. It does not support NFC or USB OTG. This is hardly surprising; after all, it is designed to be an entry-level smartphone. Users may want to consider its sibling, the 50f Helium, if they fancy having a fingerprint scanner (albeit at a cost of an inferior chipset and lesser RAM). Meanwhile, its other sibling, the Archos 55 Helium 4 seasons comes with 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and 4 back casings. Over all, the 55 Helium Ultra is evidence that not all budget friendly smartphones are derived from Chinese device makers. This device is promising as it offers users with a fast platform, a decent wide screen and a reasonably large battery yet without breaking the bank.
