Reviews for the Archos 80b Helium 4G

46% Archos 80b Helium 4G – Review
Source: Cool Smartphone English Archive.org version
When a manufacturer does too much of one thing it can now and again lose sight of the point of a device. I really felt like that with the 80b Helium, it just felt like the sum of its parts as opposed to a load of unique and useful features combining to make a decent tablet. The lack of memory, low RAM and basic processor made it feel lack lustre and the inclusion of 4G just made you wonder what someone out and about would actually do with this tablet. Yes they maybe watch a film, play a game or do some work, but all of those would be compromised and a bit slow. Without 4G this tablet would make sense as a cheap tablet suitable for media playback, with 4G it just doesn’t feel right. It does look quite nice though.

Model: The Archos 80b Helium 4G is a tablet with blazing fast 4G connectivity just as its name implies. This makes the tablet perfect for Full HD video streaming, gaming and even cloud based application. Design is simple and functional with a nicely curved silhouette. The back panel is partially made of metal for better rigidity and has a premium feel. With a weight of 320 g and height of 9.3 mm, the Archos 80b Helium 4G is comfortable in hand. The 8 inch IPS display features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, good clarity and colors. Combined with the fairly substantial audio quality, the Archos 80b Helium 4G is a perfect on-the-go multimedia platform.

The Android 4.4 KitKat device comes with a Mediatek MT8732 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a Mali 760 MP2 GPU and an internal storage of 8 GB. Users who demand more storage can rest assure that there is microSD support up to 64 GB. Other features on the Archos 80b Helium 4G are Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, dual-SIM capability, a 2 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front shooter. With the lithium polymer battery rated at 3900 mAh, the battery life is excellent.

This display format is in the mid-range for smartphones. It offers a compromise between good visibility, details and resolution on the screen, and you can still fit it into trouser pockets.

Archos: The French manufacturer Archos S.A. was founded in 1988. While they initially produced products such as MP3 players, they have started producing laptops, smartphones, and tablets in 2009.

The world market shares are small, but there are many reviews on Archos smartphones and tablets. While the ratings were below average in the early years, they have become better by 2016.

46%: This rating is bad and very rare. There are only a few models that are rated so poorly. If the source is reputable, then a purchase is probably not advisable.
