Apple releases new 16GB iPod Touch for $229

Teaser
Updated 16GB iPod Touch now available with a dual-core A5 CPU and Retina display for $229.

Without much ado, Apple has released an updated version of one of their iconic devices, though its not the new iPhone we've been awaiting. This latest update affects the 16GB iPod Touch, which hadn't been included in the 2012 upgrade.

Previously only available as the 4th generation A4 model, the new 16GB iPod Touch now closer resembles the 5th generation 32GB and 64GB models. Featuring a dual-core A5 processor and a Retina 4" display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, the main differences between the devices are the lack of a rear-facing camera and "loop" on the new 16GB model.

In addition, the new iPod Touch will only be available in black and silver, unlike the rainbow of optional colors for the 32GB and 64GB models. The device can be purchased immediately through Apple's website for just $229, and can be picked up in-store or shipped within 24 hours.
