Tim Cook teases new Apple products

Apple CEO hints at new product category during company investor call

In speaking with investors during a Q2 earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted at new products and devices that could be coming soon from the company. Cook mentioned "exciting new product categories" that should be coming this fall and in 2014, and that a lot more surprises are in the works.

Cook declined to provide further information during the investors call, but claimed that teams are hard at work developing "amazing new hardware, software and services". With the little available information it's hard to make an accurate guess, but odds are that Apple will unveil their much-rumored iOS wristwatch, or even make a foray into the smart TV market.

The comments followed Apple's encouraging Q2 2013 earnings, which saw the company post $9.5b in profit and $43.6b in total revenue. The numbers were mainly backed by iPad and iPad mini sales, which were up 65% and totalled over 19.5 million units sold. Unfortunately, iPhone sales stayed flat with just 37 million units sold, and new products may be needed to sustain the company's growth.
