Apple iPhone 7 could come with up to 256 GB of storage capacity
Rumors regarding Apple iPhones have always been in abundance prior to every official announcement. The yet-to-be-announced iPhone 7 is expected to make its proper debut in just over a week on September 9, but the leaks continue to pour in from every direction.
The latest is an image from Twitter claiming to show the different iPhone model options and their respective storage sizes. Most interesting is that Apple may announce a 256 GB SKU that could potentially be one of the largest internal capacities available on a consumer smartphone. The current iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, for example, max out at "only" 128 GB. The source also shows that the 256 GB memory modules would be supplied by Toshiba.
Apple may be dropping at least one SKU to make room for this higher capacity SKU. Thus, we may see the end of the 64 GB SKU and the 16 GB SKU to leave the 32 GB SKU as the lowest available option in terms of internal storage capacity. If true, users may only be able to select between the 32 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB models on the upcoming iPhone refresh.
