Apple MacBook Pro with OLED touchscreen: Leak reveals higher prices hours before launch

After the most affordable 14-inch MacBook Pro ($1,830 on Amazon) received an upgrade to the Apple M6 on Tuesday, Bloomberg has now learned more details about the next-generation flagship MacBooks. Most notably, the higher prices. The 14-inch MacBook Pro will reportedly cost at least $2,899, $400 more than the current model with Apple M5 Pro, 24 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
Bloomberg also expects a price increase of at least $400 for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which would bring the base model to $3,399. According to Bloomberg, Apple will continue to offer the current models alongside the new top-end models as a more affordable alternative. Whether old or new, both models allegedly use the same chips, namely either the Apple M5 Pro or the Apple M5 Max.
Those willing to pay the premium for the new models will reportedly get slightly thinner, significantly lighter laptops with an OLED display instead of Mini-LED. The screen is expected to be a touchscreen for the first time on a Mac, while the large notch will allegedly be replaced by an iPhone-style Dynamic Island. Apart from that, however, the design is expected to change only minimally. Preorders for this next-generation MacBook Pro are reportedly set to open as early as Wednesday, October 28, with deliveries expected to begin on November 6.
