Analogue announces final pre-order dates for Super Nt and Mega Sg retro games consoles
Analogue, the company behind the popular Pocket retro gaming handheld, has announced a new and final run for the Super Nt and Mega Sg. As their names suggest, the Super Nt and Mega Sg are designed to play SNES and SEGA Mega Drive games, respectively. Unsurprisingly, the pair mirror the designs of the original consoles and are compatible with complimenting controllers.
Unfortunately, Analogue has not created dedicated controllers. Conversely, the company relies on themed controllers produced by 8BitDo. For reference, neither console emulate games. Instead, Analogue has built the systems around a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip that mimics the original chipset. Theoretically, this decision means that there should be no compatibility issues with rare games or games that emulators struggle to reproduce properly.
Accordingly, Analogue includes an appropriate cartridge adapter with orders, as well as HDMI and USB cables. In a blog post, Analogue explains that pre-orders will open on October 28. At the time of publication, both consoles still retail for US$199.99 and will be available in multiple colours. Analogue hopes to start shipping pre-orders in Q4 2023; more details can be found on the company's website.
