Deal | Amazon offers Sony WH-CH720N noise-cancelling headphones with DSEE and 360 Reality Audio at bargain price

The Sony WH-CH720N headphones in black are on sale at Amazon following a 46-percent discount from their MSRP of $179.99, for a sales price of $97. The white model is on sale at a slightly smaller 37-percent discount, for a sales price of $113.92. They are Sony's lightest noise cancelling model, weighing just 192 g (6.8 oz.).

The WH-CH720N over-ear headphones offer Bluetooth wireless connectivity to audio sources. When the battery is empty, they can still be used as wired headphones thanks to a 3.5 mm audio jack. The battery is rated for up to 35 hours of runtime with ANC on, and a 3-minute quick charge can add an hour of playback time, says Sony.

In addition to the passive seal created by the earcups, the Sony headphones incorporate Dual Noise Sensor technology to further reduce surrounding noise. With their bass-heavy tuning, Rtings found they "deliver extra thump, punch, and boom, which is great for genres like EDM and hip-hop." The headphones also come with DSEE and 360 Reality Audio technologies, which are designed to restore higher sound quality to compressed music files while enveloping the wearer in immersive surround sound.

As a con, the very latest noise-cancelling headphones from Sony offer better noise cancellation, according to Rtings reviews. The Sony WH-CH720N is rated 6.3 for noise isolation, whereas the $459.99 Sony WH-1000XM6 is rated 9.7. Also, the Sony is a poor wireless choice for gamers due to a noticeable audio lag of 290 ms over Bluetooth connections, but this lag disappears when used wired.
