Amazon Germany lists the Nokia 8.3 5G: new Snapdragon 765G-powered smartphone could hit retail soon, but high price and LCD panel raise questions
Amazon Germany recently listed the Nokia 8.3 5G smartphone alongside the currently available Nokia 8.1 This hints at a sooner than expected retail launch for the Snapdragon 765G-powered 5G smartphone. Earlier reports indicated that, because of COVID-19, we might be looking at a substantial delay before the Nokia 8.3 5G hits the market.
The Amazon listing, then, is good news for buyers looking to get their hands no this semi-flagship. With a sticker price of over US$600, the Nokia 8.3 is in the same general price bracket as inexpensive flagships like the OnePlus 8 and the Redmi K30 Pro (which should make its way to European markets in the next couple months).
The pricing is a bit of an issue considering the sub-premium Snapdragon 765G chipset and the inclusion of a bog-standard LCD panel. In an increasingly competitive smartphone market, it remains to be seen whether the Nokia device will have a lot of takers. Nevertheless, we expect to see it launch soon.
