Reviews for the Acer Swift 5 SF514-55GT-72L0

80% Acer Swift 5 (Late 2020) Review
Source: Trusted Reviews English
The Acer Swift 5 is a great Ultrabook for those who want to work on the move thanks to a lightweight design, stellar battery life and competitive performance. However, concerns over the build quality may convince you to spend extra for a Dell XPS laptop, or move over to the MacBook Air.

NVIDIA GeForce MX350: Successor of the MX250 and most likely a renamed GeForce GTX 1050 based on the Pascal GP107 chip with 640 shaders and a 64 Bit memory bus for GDDR5.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's second-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

14.00":

Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

1.05 kg:

In former time,s this weight was typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, often 15 inch laptops weigh as much.

Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.

While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.

There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.

80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
