Acer ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro launched with Alder Lake-H, optional RTX A5500, and a mammoth 99.98 Wh battery

Alongside the new ConceptD 100 and ConceptD 500 desktops, Acer also introduced the new ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro laptops for creatives. The 2022 ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro get upgraded specs over previous generation models and come with optional 16-inch OLED displays and upgrades to Intel Alder Lake-H processors.

The ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro feature similar specifications. However, the Pro variant offers Nvidia RTX A5500 graphics instead of the RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU found in the non-Pro SKU. Both variants are validated for Nvidia Studio drivers for good performance in creative applications.

CPU options are offered up to a Core i7-12700H, which is accompanied by up to 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2 TB PCIe NVMe storage. Acer said that strategically placed intake and exhaust vents create sort of a "Vortex Flow" within the device while the three provided fans manage to keep the laptop cool with a loudness of just under 40 dB(A).

Acer has equipped the ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro with optional 16-inch 16:10 WQUXGA (3,840x2,400) 400-nit OLED panels with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, PANTONE Matching System (PMS) colors, and HDR support. The display is color-calibrated out-of-the-box with a Delta E<2. 

This year, Acer has increased the Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad size by 27% — the touchpad also has a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello logins. Hotkeys for often-used functions such as Snipping Tool, app swapping, color picker, etc. can be configured on the keyboard for quick access. Acer said that the scissor mechanism keys have a 1.5 mm travel for a comfortable typing experience.

For perhaps the first time, Acer has endowed the ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro with a massive 99.98 Wh battery, which the company says can last up to 11 hours of video playback and web browsing. Connectivity features include Killer Wi-Fi 6E 1675s WLAN with Bluetooth 5.2 and Killer E3100G 2.5G LAN along with Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1-out, and a full-size SD 7.0 card reader.

The Acer ConceptD 5 (CN516-73G) will be available in North America in August from US$2,499.99 and in EMEA from June at a starting price of €2,399.

The Acer ConceptD 5 Pro (CN516-73P) will be available in EMEA from September starting from €2,599. Availability in North America is not yet known.
