Aspire Nitro on Nitro! The Aspire Nitro is familiar, just like the GeForce GTX 1060. It is the combination of the two components that makes the Acer Aspire Nitro 2016 such an interesting device. The price is supposed to start at around 1,300 Euros, so it could be a game-changer in the entry-level gaming segment.

When we say that Acer's gaming lineup is impressive from top (Predator) to bottom (Aspire VX), we don't mean to slight the middle. The Nitro is worth checking out, even if it doesn't scream for attention.

The Aspire V 17 Nitro BE lineup was associated and marketed as gaming-oriented but with the new VN7-793G version, the sub-brand makes an interesting turn. Yes, the hardware is typical for a gaming laptop and offers a lot of horsepower – enough to run AAA titles with medium to high settings with resolution cranked up to 1080p but the whole concept of the notebook makes it more suitable for content creation, multimedia purposes and some entertainment at the end of the day. Why?

A lot of gaming notebooks are a little ostentatious. I haven't outgrown red stripes or black and silver accents, but there are some occasions that call for a laptop that looks a little more professional. That's where the Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition comes in. The laptop looks like a corporate notebook, but its Nvidia GeForce 1060 GPU and Intel Core i7 GPU are more than powerful enough to let you sit back and play your favorite games.

Made for gaming. Acer’s current 17-inch series, known as Nitro, has received a CPU and GPU performance upgrade. The V17 Nitro thus performs very well while at the same time being moderately quiet. In addition, Acer has scrapped the optical drive but included nice gimmicks, such as Tobii eye-tracking.

Entry-level Nitro. Acer's 17.3-inch laptop offers good overall performance, decent emission levels, and a well-thought-out ports configuration. Unlike its predecessors, it does not include an optical drive anymore. Our review unit also did not include a Windows license.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: The mobile GTX 1060 is based on the GP106 chip and offer 1280 shaders. Compared to the identically named desktop version it features a slightly lower clock rate. Games in Full HD and maximum details should run fluently on the card.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.

Intel Kaby Lake:
i7-7700HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Besides four CPU cores (including Hyper Threading), the chips also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU and is manufactured in an improved 14 nm process.
i5-7300HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture running at 2.5 - 3.5 GHz without Hyper Threading (which is supported by the faster i7 CPUs). The chip also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU clocked at 350 - 1000 MHz and is manufactured in a 14 nm process (improved compared to Skylake).

3.1 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.
3.2 kg:
81.61%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
