The 15-inch Acer Aspire 5742 laptop offers very good value for money for a budget consumer. The laptop offers decent performance, battery life, and is a very good contender for a basic home laptop around Rs. 30,000.

With the new Aspire AS5742 line of 15-inch laptops, you can bet that Acer is targeting the average laptop user finally looking to make the jump to Intel's newest processors. The Aspire AS5742-7620 ($629.99 list), packed with a 2.40 GHz Intel i3-370M mobile processor, aims to fit the bill. Equipped with a webcam, Acer's CineCrystal 15.6-inch display, a one-year warranty and many more features, this laptop hopes to be the one that introduces you to the land of i3.

The Acer Aspire AS5742-7645 laptop delivers excellent bang for your budget buck and a long-running battery. But, it comes packed inside a boring, somewhat flimsy chassis.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Onboard graphics card that is built in the new Arrandale CPUs (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Cores). Depending on the model and Turbo Boost, the GMA HD is clocked between 166 and 766 MHz.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

370M: The Core i3-370M is a fast clocked Core i3. The TurboBoost, AES, VTd, and Trusted Execution functions are deactivated in the i3-series. Therefore, it always clocks with max. 2.4 GHz (of course Speedstep is included). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.
While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.
