Acer's latest notebook combines a sturdy chassis, reasonably powerful Core Duo T2300 processor and Vodafone's new HSDPA broadband module for high-speed internet access on the move. Just as with the Dell Latitude 420 (review coming soon), this Acer comes with a built-in Vodafone 3G broadband module. Located inside the battery compartment, this module provides access to Vodafone's HSDPA network and achieve internet speeds of up to 1.8Mbits/sec.

The notebook market has become sort of stale lately, as manufacturers fight over price points rather than exciting new concepts, so it’s nice to see a new idea once in awhile. Sometimes, being the first to market with an idea can be daunting, users will like the notion but not the implementation. In the case of the Aspire 5652WLMi, Acer hasn’t made a great leap forward in technology, simply in execution. If it had been a little lighter we’d have made it a Hot Product but as it stands: it’s a great machine that runs well and the addition of 3G is a clincher, especially at the asking price.

Dell was the first to offer a 3G-ready notebook with its Latitude D620 but, along with Fujitsu Siemens, Acer is among the first to ship a notebook with 3G integrated as standard. The SIM card sits in a slot underneath the battery, and in this case it's supplied in partnership with Vodafone. There are three tariffs to choose from: the most basic gives 250MB of data for £25 a month, with each extra megabyte costing £1. The Data Unlimited tariff costs £45 a month with a fair-use policy of 1GB, while the Data Travel tariff (£95) still has the 1GB cap, but gives you 100MB of free downloads when you're abroad, and cheaper rates thereafter when roaming. A fantastic specification partnered with comprehensive features, integrated 3G and a bargain price.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600: The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 is a middle class video card of the 7000 series and suited for games of the year 2006. The performance is very similar to ATI X1600 / X1700. Compared to the desktop 7600 it is clearly slower.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core Duo: Double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used together by the double. The maximum capacity of 31 watts is only 4 watts more than with the Pentium M (predecessor). Both cores are lowered automatically and independently of each other by speed steps down to 1 GHz. In addition it now supports also SSE3 instructions. At least it is just as fast as a equivalent Pentium M. With applications, which were designed for multi-processors, the performance can be nearly twice as fast as with the Pentium M (e.g. CineBench around 86% fast)
