ASUS has just released its first 8K HDR monitor, the ProArt Display 8K PA32KCX. It is designed for creators who need color accuracy down to the smallest detail. The 32-inch Mini LED screen will be handy for tasks like post-production, visual effects, and color grading.
The panel gives 8K UHD resolution and uses 4,032 local dimming zones which improve contrast and brightness control. The technology manufacturer rates the screen for 1,200 nits peak and 1,000 nits sustained brightness. This is made possible with the HDR10, and HLG formats integrated into the monitor.
Dolby Vision will be enabled via a firmware update “expected in Q3 2025”, according to the company’s website. It has a color coverage of 100% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB, and 97% DCI-P3, paired with 10-bit depth and a ΔE < 1 calibration target.
There is an inbuilt motor-powered colorimeter that handles both self- and auto-calibration, making it possible to work more efficiently. The monitor also works with Calman and Light Illusion ColourSpace software to ensure consistency across different editing projects. ASUS included a Light Sync system that adjusts the panel’s output to match ambient lighting conditions using front and rear sensors.
Available ports include dual Thunderbolt 4 connections with 96 W power delivery, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, and a USB hub. There’s also an Auto KVM function, allowing two connected systems to share one keyboard and mouse. This feature would come in handy for editors who switch between workstations.
The ProArt Display PA32KCX also supports sustainability. According to ASUS, it has recyclable packaging and energy-efficient components. Its stand supports full tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment. While 8K workflows are still not popular, displays like this show how high-resolution production tools are gradually becoming part of mainstream studio setups.
