ASUS ROG Thor III PSUs: High-end power with magnetic OLED display and GaN tech
ASUS just released its latest top-of-the-line power supply unit, the ROG Thor III series, which features cool new features and cutting-edge tech. The lineup offers models ranging from 1,000W to a beefy 1,600W, perfect for those chasing high-performance setups.
Here’s a quick peek at what these PSUs bring to the table:
- Magnetic OLED display with real-time data
- GaN tech (Gallium Nitride) for better efficiency
- ATX 3.1 support
- GPU-First voltage sensing for more stable power delivery
- Turbo mode for extended peak load handling
The highlight here is the magnetic OLED display. Instead of being stuck in one spot like older models, you can pop this display wherever it’s most visible, which is a win for various case setups. It gives you real-time power usage stats, too.
ASUS went all-in with GaN tech across the whole series, which could boost efficiency by as much as 30 percent compared to regular MOSFETs. That means these units stay cooler and perform better while sticking to the ATX format.
The series also introduces GPU-First voltage sensing paired with an intelligent voltage stabilizer. ASUS says this system offers 45 percent more stable power to your GPU.
The turbo mode feature kicks in to manage extended peak loads thanks to a fine-tuned fan curve. The fans themselves are dual-ball bearing types, built to run for up to 80,000 hours, which translates to serious long-term reliability.
The ROG Thor III lineup gives you three power options:
- 1,000W (80 PLUS Platinum certified)
- 1,200W (80 PLUS Platinum certified)
- 1,600W (80 PLUS Titanium certified)
All models come packed with low-ESR capacitors, ROG-brand heatsinks, all-aluminium casings, and modular cables etched with that ROG flair.
ASUS hasn’t released pricing details yet, but considering the older ROG Thor 1600T had an MSRP of $699, you can expect these new models to be up there, too.
On the bright side, ASUS is backing these PSUs with a 10-year warranty, which should give buyers some peace of mind about long-term performance and durability.
