AMD has EOL'd the StoreMI feature that was offered as a part of X470 and above chipsets. StoreMI allowed for combining up to 256 GB of SSD storage and RAM with traditional hard drives to speed up data access. AMD originally licensed the StoreMI feature from Enmotus but will now be focusing on developing a more feature-rich in-house solution slated to release sometime in Q2 2020.

AMD will be ending support for the current version of StoreMI effective March 31, 2020 and as such has removed the app from its official website. Those who have already downloaded the application before March 31 can continue using it but without any technical support. AMD said that it is planning for an in-house replacement with a "rearchitected feature set" for release sometime in Q2 2020.

According to the Product Change Advisory document published on March 18, 2020,

AMD has decided to end-of-life the current version of the StoreMI technology, and effective March 31, 2020, AMD will no longer make this technology available for download on AMD.com. End users who download the current version of the StoreMI technology prior to March 31, 2020 may continue to use it thereafter (i.e. it will not be deactivated) but AMD will no longer provide any technical or end user support. Instead, AMD will focus its internal development resources on a replacement solution with a rearchitected feature set and a planned release window of 2Q20.

Those seeking a storage acceleration solution after March 31, 2020 may wait for the new AMD solution, or may seek an alternative solution such as Enmotus FuzeDrive.

AMD does not advise or encourage users to download the current version of the StoreMI technology from mirror or Internet download sites. These sites are NOT AUTHORIZED to distribute this technology, AMD does not review their downloads to confirm they are authentic, and AMD cannot ensure the safety or reliability of any such downloads."

For those in the know, AMD StoreMI uses available HDD, SATA SSD, PCIe NMVe, or 3D Xpoint (Optane) storage and DDR4 RAM to create tiered storage that moves the data blocks to the fastest available storage device in the combination. StoreMI is AMD's free offering of Enmotus FuzeDrive that otherwise costs US$19.99.

To the OS, it appears like any other drive and is a lot more versatile solution than Optane. Users with AMD X470 and above motherboards got to use StoreMI for free for up to 256 GB while a 1 TB license costs US$59.99 for Enmotus FuzeDrive Plus.

Enmotus, however, said that the company will be supporting existing StoreMI installations up to May 15, 2020. In a statement to Tom's Hardware, Enmotus said,

To help concerned StoreMI end users, Enmotus has decided to offer StoreMI customers that register with us free technical support for existing installations from April 1st until May 15th of this year. Given we have a lot of fans out there, we are also offering the registered users upgrades to FuzeDrive 256 at $9.95 (50% off the regular price) for a period of time. Of course, FuzeDrive will be fully compatible with our upcoming MiDrive and also provide the freedom for end users to migrate their FuzeDrive configurations to Intel platforms also."
