Multiple leaks have confirmed Zen 6 will arrive on laptops in the form of Medusa Point. The latest one talked about a core count increase and the inclusion of three different CPU cores (Zen 6, Zen 6c and LP) on the die. Now, a new leak tells us about AMD's other set of upcoming laptop SKUs that don't use Zen 6 cores.
Noted X leaker Olrak29_ spotted four peculiar CPUs, the Ryzen 9 475, Ryzen 9 465, Ryzen 7 450, and Ryzen 5 445 (all tentative names) on a shipping manifest. While their core counts aren't specified, they are all 28 Watt parts, effectively confirming they're earmarked for laptop use.
Another leaker, @9550pro, chimed in, stating that these are likely Gorgon Point SKUs because they use the FP8 socket, the same one used by Strix Point. The leaker adds these CPUs are essentially refreshed Strix Point dies, implying they'll launch with a mix of Zen 5 and Zen 5c CPU cores.
But an earlier post from @Olrak29_ talked about three subdivisions in the Gorgon Point lineup: Gorgon Point 1, Gorgon Point 2 and Gorgon Point 3. Gorgon Point 2 is tipped to be a cut-down Gorgon Point 1 die, and the Gorgon Point 3 is a Krackan Point refresh.
If true, the above leak confirms Medusa Point will arrive bearing the Ryzen AI 500 moniker, which sits in line with AMD's usual naming schemes. Its GPU will be limited to RDNA 3.5 because RDNA 4 is unlikely to arrive on laptops anytime soon.
