OLED TVs are not necessarily a luxury purchase anymore, especially since well-equipped home theater displays such as the Samsung S84D have fallen way below the $2,000 mark. In another noteworthy deal, the attractively priced television from the market-leading South Korean tech behemoth has now reached another all-time low price.
Specifically, the 77-inch variant of the S84D OLED has dropped to just $1,499 at Best Buy, which undercuts the previous record-low by another $100. In comparison to Samsung's original MSRP, bargain hunters can save a whopping 54%, although Best Buy currently quotes a lower reference price of $1,799. The competing LG B4 is also more expensive at this point in time.
The Samsung S84D OLED is Best Buy's exclusive version of the better-known S85D, which has received a decent overall score in Rtings' comprehensive review. The TV has a peak HDR brightness of around 650 nits, which is comparable to the aforementioned B4 OLED. Moreover, the set sports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, but it lacks the striking colors of the Quantum-Dot OLED panels that are found inside the S90D and S95D. Dolby Vision is not supported either, as Samsung opted for HDR10+ instead.
That said, higher-end OLED TVs are usually much more expensive and might not offer a better bang for the buck for TV users who wouldn't call themselves enthusiasts. Since the new 2025 televisions won't receive big discounts until later this year, the S84D is a solid option for shoppers who are in the hunt for a 77-inch screen.
