2026 Toyota C-HR priced lower than Model Y as first reviews detail cornering and ride comfort of the AWD electric SUV

While Toyota was vindicated for not betting the house on electric cars like some other automakers, it is also moving along with its 22-strong U.S. electric vehicle portfolio announced as far back as 2022.
After its first electric family Highlander and the tough bZ Woodland, it is bringing the compact C-HR SUV in a battery-powered form for the 2026 model year in the US market.
The 2026 electric Toyota C-HR is priced from $37,000, and its release date is set for March, with the first reviews already rolling in. The C-HR comes with a fairly generous 75 kWh battery, and the dual-motor AWD system outputting 338 HP brings its range a tad below the 300-mile mark, at 287 miles on the EPA test.
Charging is done via a standard NACS port at any Tesla Supercharger, and it takes about 30 minutes to charge the battery to the usual 80% mark. On the outside, the electric C-HR looks like a typical Toyota with sharp, aggressive edges, while the interior is covered with soft-touch material and spiced up with ambient lighting that can be tailored to the passenger's preference.
The electric C-HR is also available with an optional panoramic glass roof that features a powered sunshade and offers a good amount of cargo space for such a compact SUV, up to 60 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded.
The first 2026 Toyota C-HR reviews praise its torque and sharp cornering abilities, as well as the ride comfort. The compact SUV is a bit cheaper than the base AWD Model Y and comes with a "compelling blend" of style and abilities, tip the C-HR reviewers.
