There is a plethora of wireless chargers out there now that smartphones supporting the feature are becoming common. Some are basic and inexpensive while others can charge multiple devices at a time at higher rates. Syncwire recently sent us its basic Mag360 2-in-1 wireless charging stand for our honest impressions.
The Mag360 has the ability to charge two devices simultaneously: one on the magnetic rotating arm at up to 15 W (or 7.5 W for iPhones) and one on the base at up to 5 W for smartwatches and earbuds. Keep in mind that the retail box includes only a 1.2 meter USB-C to USB-C cable meaning users will need to provide their own power source of at least 15 W in order for the Mag360 to function properly. We utilized a 100 W ElecJet AC adapter and a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for the purposes of this review.
Though the Syncwire charging stand is sturdy for solid first impressions, its limitations are clear within the first few seconds of use. More specifically, its magnet is relatively weak and so our Samsung phone would frequently fall off unless if it is positioned in a very specific orientation. We suspect that a lighter smartphone or one with stronger magnets wouldn't have this issue. Even so, we aren't able to rotate the arm or use it as a touchscreen stand since our smartphone would simply slide off if slightly disturbed.
As for the charge rate, we're able to charge our Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from 24 percent to 85 percent in 109 minutes with the Mag360. In comparison, cabled charging from 24 to 85 percent via the ElecJet would take less than half the time at just 51 minutes.
If your smartphone includes a strong magnet or a removable metal case with support for wireless charging, then the Mag360 can be appealing on a desktop or office table. Otherwise, a flat charging mat would be the more reliable option especially if you don't find the rotating arm feature of the Mag360 any useful.
The Syncwire Mag360 is currently shipping for $39 USD here.
