Deal | For Halloween: Necromancer strategy game drops to $1.24 on Steam

In Necroking, players take on the role of a powerful necromancer determined to strike fear into the hearts of humanity. Wearing a magical crown and commanding an ever-growing army of skeletons, vampires and demons, the self-proclaimed ruler of the dead travels across the land, plundering settlements and facing terrifying bosses. Necroking is currently 75% off on Steam until November 6, bringing the price down to just $1.24 instead of around $5. According to SteamDB, this matches its previous all-time low, last reached during the Steam Autumn Sale.
When it comes to gameplay, Necroking fully embraces the necromancer fantasy. Instead of picking up a weapon yourself, you send your rattling minions into battle. Players build a deck featuring more than 30 different types of undead units, which are summoned using mana and then fight largely on their own. The main challenge lies in deploying the right units at the right time and in the right place. Their various abilities can be combined in numerous ways, allowing for very different strategies – from overwhelming enemies with massive skeleton armies to unleashing devastating magical attacks.
Between battles, players explore a procedurally generated world filled with graveyards, merchants and all kinds of hidden locations. Along the way, they collect resources and unlock new cards to make their undead armies even stronger. Different environments, enemy factions and powerful bosses help keep things varied. Despite its dark setting, Necroking doesn't take itself too seriously, combining charming pixel art with a healthy dose of humor.
The game has been well received on Steam, with 81% positive ratings from more than 970 user reviews. Players particularly praise the lovingly animated pixel art, unusual gameplay concept and satisfying process of collecting and combining undead units. However, the limited strategic depth is a common criticism. Players frequently point out that certain overpowered card combinations can defeat almost any enemy. Battles can also become repetitive over time, while the difficulty sometimes feels poorly balanced.
Anyone looking for a particularly complex strategy game probably won't find it here. But for a few entertaining hours of gaming around Halloween, Necroking could be a great choice.
