Sony unveils ELF-MN1 6-inch glasses-free 3D display for viewing anime avatars and spatial content

Sony has unveiled the 6-inch ELF-MN1 Spatial Reality Display, a glasses-free 3D display for use with smartphones and computers to display anime avatars and spatial content. Eye-tracking technology is used to keep the projected 1,080 × 2,160-pixel 3D image in clear view.
The ELF-MN1 display uses a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel, 60 Hz LCD panel with a contrast ratio of 1,350:1, a maximum brightness of 470 nits, and a 403 ppi pixel density. An IR sensor tracks the viewer's eyes, while real-time video generation technology is used to create a stereoscopic image that can be viewed up to 25° off-center from 30 cm to 80 cm (11.8 in. to 31.5 in.) away. The 3D technology can only create a viewable image for one user, while others only see a distorted image. One-watt stereo speakers are included for sound.
3D media or avatars, including HoloModel digital figures from Gugenka, are supported. Readers who don't want a 3D avatar display due to eye strain or cost can look into the 2D HoloModelLink display.
The display requires a recent phone with a fast processor (e.g., Sony Xperia 1 V/5 V or higher, Pixel 10/11, Galaxy S23 or higher, iPhone 15 or higher) and a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode, or a mid-range desktop (e.g., 6C/12T Intel Core i5 or higher, Nvidia RTX 2070 2070 Super or higher, 16+ GB RAM, and USB-C supporting 4K 60P output).
The overall size of the assembled display is 110.7 x 154.6 x 111.8 mm (4.36 x 6.09 x 4.40 in.) and it weighs 0.35 kg (0.77 lbs.).
The Sony ELF-MN1 will be available for sale in Japan for approximately 54,000 yen (~$340) starting December 11, 2026. Readers in Japan can see the unit in person at the Sony Store in Ginza or Nagoya starting November 20, 2026.
Readers who want to view 3D games and content on a larger monitor might consider the Acer Predator SpatialLabs 27" UHD glasses-free 3D gaming monitor on Amazon.
