Asus' top-of-the-line 27-inch OLED monitor is now available.
To celebrate ROG’s 20th anniversary, Asus is launching an OLED gaming monitor that offers a refresh rate of up to 720 Hz, an impressive brightness of 1,500 nits, and a sleek design with a transparent back panel. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 is now available, but it doesn’t come cheap.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) sub-brand, Asus has re-released a whole range of products, from the ROG Xbox Ally X20 to the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 gaming monitor. The monitor is available now and is listed on the Asus online store für $1,199. For comparison, the technically similar PG27AQWP-W costs $1,099 on Amazon.

Like all products in the ROG Edition 20 lineup, the monitor features a black chassis with gold accents. The standout design feature is the partially transparent back panel, which offers a glimpse into the monitor’s inner workings. The monitor is equipped with a state-of-the-art tandem OLED panel from LG Display. Although it only achieves a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels at a pixel density of 111 PPI with a 26.5-inch diagonal, it achieves an impressive refresh rate of 540 Hz at full resolution, or 720 Hz at 720p resolution.

Tandem OLED is also said to offer a 60 percent longer lifespan than older WOLED panels and achieve higher brightness. Specifically, Asus cites 335 nits across the entire screen and a peak HDR brightness of 1,500 nits. It can reproduce 99.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. A special "TrueBlack Glossy" coating is designed to ensure that deep blacks can be displayed even in the presence of bright light sources in the room.

Thanks to a Neo Proximity Sensor, the monitor can detect when the user leaves the desk and displays only a black screen to prevent burn-in and save power. Asus includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 (80 Gbit/s) and two HDMI 2.1 ports, but omits a USB-C port. However, it does come with a USB-A hub featuring three ports. The three-year warranty also covers burn-in. More details on the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 are available on the Asus website.
