Xiaomi teases major display and charging upgrades for Xiaomi 17 flagship phones

Alongside showcasing the Xiaomi 17 series in full, the company has recently confirmed a sooner-than-expected launch date for its new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones. As we covered, the Chinese launch event is set on September 25, 2025, which isn't far from now.

Just before the launch, Xiaomi revealed more key features of its new flagship phones. Among the newly revealed details is a screen tech of the Xiaomi 17 series, especially for the Pro Max. As Lei Jun, the company's CEO, notes, the top-end flagship phone comes with "Super Pixel" technology.

This tech is said to deliver enhanced screen clarity, and as Lei Jun highlights, it will also result in power efficiency, claiming a 26% reduction in power consumption compared to traditional 2K screens. The Xiaomi CEO further notes that there will be a noticeable upgrade in terms of display quality, thanks to the OLED panel featuring three RGB sub-pixels within each pixel.

With a separate teaser, Xiaomi revealed that the entire Xiaomi 17 series comes with the new "M10 screen luminescence technology." This is said to make the flagship phones enjoy a "world-leading luminous efficiency."

Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Pro phones will feature L-shaped Si/C batteries, which feature "ultra-high" energy density. The company further adds that its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones have support for 100 W fast charging and the PPS charging protocol.

Support for the PPS universal charging protocol means the flagship phones can be quickly charged even with non-Xiaomi charging power bricks. The exact battery capacities of the Xiaomi 17 series are still under wraps, but the good part is that the launch is around the corner.
