New Xiaomi 17 series leak hints at notable battery boosts over last-gen flagships

Xiaomi is getting ready to launch its new flagship phone series, the Xiaomi 17 series. The company has already showcased the new rear design of the Pro phones, but it has yet to detail the core specs of the devices. However, recent leaks have hinted at what to expect from the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones.

One of the recent ones comes from a Weibo leaker who goes by the username Panda Is Very Bald, and this leak shares the battery specs of the Xiaomi 17 series. Per the leak, which appears to have been sourced from the videos posted by Bilibili user Neural Tin Tin, the standard phone will come with a 7,000 mAh battery, a notable upgrade over the 5,400 mAh of the Chinese Xiaomi 15.

As for the Xiaomi 17 Pro, the Weibo leaker states that it will feature a 6,300 mAh battery, which is disappointing when compared to the standard model. However, it's still an upgrade over the 6,100 mAh battery found in the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

The Weibo leaker further notes that the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will come with the largest battery, featuring a total capacity of 7,500 mAh. As for the charging speeds, the leak suggests that all three phones will have support for 100 W fast charging, a slight jump from the 90 W fast charging rating of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro (100 W Ugreen 20K Nexode power bank curr. $59.99 on Amazon). This is something that was already suggested by a certification leak from August 2025.

Interestingly, the leaker has shared a photo that seemingly shows all the batteries of the Xiaomi 17 series, and there are four of them. Panda Is Very Bald shares that the last one is for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is yet to be announced by the company, and the photo shows a 6,800 mAh cell.

In comparison, the Chinese Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a 6,000 mAh battery, so it seems that the 17 Ultra will also see a notable battery capacity upgrade. Nonetheless, these capacity bumps should make the upcoming phones offer improved run times over their predecessors, unless the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 turns out to be less efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
