Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship killers, and there are three of them. Billed as the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro Plus, the trio all offer 120 Hz AMOLED displays, flagship SoCs and large batteries, among other features.

Xiaomi has lifted the lid on the Redmi K40 series, and it turns out that there are three devices in the series, not two. All models have flagship hardware, including Samsung's E4 AMOLED display. As we have previously reported, Xiaomi equips the Mi 11 with the same 120 Hz and 1,300 nit panel, while Samsung uses it in the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Redmi K40 series also has a 360 Hz touch sampling rate, along with a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a punch hole that is just 2.76 mm across.

The three Redmi K40 series devices share other similarities too, including a 20 MP front-facing camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 5 MP telephoto lens. Likewise, the series shares a 4,520 mAh battery, support for 33 W fast charging, side-mounted fingerprint sensors and the same 7.8 mm thick housing that weighs 196 g. Moreover, they will all ship with MIUI 12 and will be available in Glossy Black, Icy White and Dreamland.

However, the Redmi K40 must make do with a Snapdragon 870, a step down from the Snapdragon 888 on which the Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro Plus rely. Similarly, Xiaomi only equips the Redmi K40 Pro Plus with Samsung's 108 MP HM2 camera. By contrast, the Redmi K40 Pro has a 64 MP Sony IMX686 camera as its primary, and the Redmi K40 the 48 MP IMX582. There are slight differences in RAM speeds and LTE/Wi-Fi connectivity too, which the table below outlines.

The Redmi K40 series starts at CNY 1,999 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. On the other hand, the Redmi K40 Pro will cost at least CNY 2,799, while the Redmi K40 Pro Plus will be only available in one configuration for CNY 3,699. The pricing for the Redmi K40 series is as follows, although it will probably not reflect prices in other markets.

  • 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage - CNY 1,999
  • 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage - CNY 2,199
